COMPOUNDING

The process of creating personalized medications for individual patients is known as pharmacy compounding. A pharmacist may suggest compounding in various situations such as when the medicine is not currently available due to supply issues, when the medication is not produced commercially, when specific dosages are required, when the patient cannot take pills, when a different method of administration is preferred, when two or more medicines need to be combined for more effective treatment of a condition, or when the medicine contains an allergen or other problematic ingredient.
